Three weeks immediately following the devastating earthquake which destroyed Haiti in January 2010, a group of highly educated and respected Haitian professionals living in the United States got together to brainstorm on concrete solutions and actions which would help Haiti to become an integrated society and civilization in all aspects. The group unveiled ideas based on local cultural and traditional awareness, and made a commitment to help in whatever way they could. Thus, Haiti Brigade Inc. was born as a 501 (c) (3), registered and chartered in Maryland, USA.
From this point on, the ball did not stop rolling with ideas, strategies, and possible solutions to help rebuild Haiti. Our strong commitment to help Haiti stems primarily from our Haitian background and the desire to give birth to a new Haiti where moral values, civism, and human decency are at the common denominator for all.
Our executive management team and pool of experts and advisors have unparalleled experience in engineering, public health, medicine, education, real estate, banking, finance, human development, and administration. SOME FUTURE PROJECTS AT A GLANCE
We prioritize our projects based on pressing needs. Our projects are divided into three distinct categories for implementation and accomplishment: short-term (less than 5 years), mid-term (between 5 and 10 years), and long-term (15 years and up).
All our projects are identified and analyzed for feasibility, and they are reviewed and assessed through phases.
Our main short-term projects include the construction of state-of-the-art technology schools from kindergarten to baccalaureate. We also plan to build vocational and trade schools with a two-year program in masonry, plumbing, carpentry, electricity, agriculture, and management, so as to empower young Haitians to enter the job market rapidly and/or create their own enterprises quickly. Limited public housing development is another short-term project in consideration. Local tourism will be explored.
In addition to the short-term projects aforementioned, our mid-term plans include the construction of two to four small medical clinics and one start-of-the-art technology hospital to launch public health programs. Public housing projects will continue at a greater scale. We anticipate the implementation of agricultural projects such as the production of rice, beans, mangos, coffee, peanuts, water melon, bananas, sugar cane, livestock to be launched for local consumption at first, and exportation thereafter.
In the long-term, infrastructure projects such as roads, public transportation, energy, water, and forestation will be our focus.
